I passed my CCENT1 yesterday |

It was a 50 question test. I took my time, read each question twice, and read all of the answers before selecting the best answer. I scored 962 and had 30 minutes to spare.
They gave me a 8.5" x 14" board and a dry erase marker. I wrote down the subnet table in decimal and slash notation. I did this while the computer was giving me a 17 minutes demonstration on how to take the test. It's the same format used by How2Pass so I went through that quickly.
There were two questions regarding the "setup" command at the privileged exec prompt. There are no questions regarding "setup" on the How2Pass practice questions. I looked up the command later and found out that if you type this command, it takes you to setup mode. When you're finished in setup mode, click CTRL-C to abort your changes or type exit when you're finished. It looks like it will merge these changes with your running-config.
There was a simulation on the test just like the one in the How2Pass practice test (QID:S24). The simulation on How2Pass has an interface that is administratively down. On the test, both the WAN and LAN interfaces were fully configured and enabled (up/up). I spent about 15 minutes going over and over the show interfaces output and reading all possible answers. All other interfaces were not configured and shutdown. The answers were either to configure an IP address for an interface or performing a no shutdown on the port. I decided I was wasting too much time on this question and used an educated guess.

Hello,
on the ACL sim why is the ACL applied to the fa0/0 interface outbound and not the fa0/1 inbound. I was of the belief that extended acls were applied as close to the source as possible.
Thank you

What to do after CCNA? |

Hi everybody
I got my CCNA certification last week after several months' hard study. The problem facing me now is that I'm not really sure where to go next. I have absolutely no IT experience -- I only decided to become CCNA-certified because a friend told me that it would get me a decent salary. I've been unemployed for many years. What do people think I ought to do? Should I learn more about Windows, Linux, Unix, etc., or go for CCNP? Would employers be likely to hire somebody solely on the basis of the applicant's certification?
These are sincere questions, and I appreciate any and all sincere answers. Thank you.

The answer to this question claims that traffic from the Internet to the data center is load balanced across 3 paths, but I think the correct answer is 4 paths.
It's true that Router A load balances across its 3 links, but the question states that all routers have the variance configured. Therefore, Router B will load balance across two of its links, making a fourth path.
I set this up in GNS3 with the ratios of the metrics for the various links exactly the same as presented in the question. I checked the routing table on A, and sure enough, it had 3 entries for the "data center" (loopback) connected to router H: through B, D, and F. Router B had two routes to the data center: through C and E.
Then I set up Wireshark on Router E on the links to Routers B, D, and F, as well as on Router C on the link facing router B. Finally, I sent 90 icmp packets from Router A to the "data center," and the results were as I predicted:
A->D->E->H: 40 packets
A->F->E->H: 30 packets
A->B->E->H: 12 packets
A->B->C->H: 8 packets
I will grant that the question states that the K-values are set to their default, while I set them to only compute delay on all routers. However, I can't conceive of any way that would contaminate the results.

Just took ICND1 and got a 95 (950). When i signed up for how2pass I thought it would take about a month and a half of study to be ready for the test. It only took about 3 weeks! I Defiantly recommend this site.

Questions about ICND1 Exam |

Has anyone recently taken the ICND1 exam?
This site appears to have questions not related to the material covered in CCNA1/CCNA2 courses.
It seems to have questions from a general CCNA Exam(CCNA1,CCNA2,CCNA3,CCNA4 couses),
not the specific material from CCNA1/CCNA2.
Does that make sense?
I want to practice JUST questions for ICND1.
Also, if anyone has taken the ICND1 Exam lately, how accurate are the practice questions
from the section labeled " Recently Added / Modified "
Thanks!

Commission as an affiliate |

Good morning,
I was hoping you could clarify the terms around affiliate commission. If a company sets itself up as an affiliate and employees of that company make purchases using the affiliate link, would commission still be paid?
I look forward to receiving your response.
Kind regards,
Darren Vidler
