I had three Labs and one Simlet:
Labs -
OSPF Stub
ISIS/EIGRP Redistribution
IPV6 Virtual Links
Simlet -
EIGRP Topology Output
This is the first time that I have ever taken a certification test and in the first 10 minutes thought I would fail. I had about 20 questions I had never seen before, tons of multicasting. I got so shaken in the first 10 minutes, I didn't even answer the Virtual Links lab-just completely skipped it cause I was stressed and didn't slow down and think.
This is also the first time I had not checked these forums prior to my test - big mistake but my fault.
But, I somehow passed and the ospf and redistribution labs were easy along with EIGRP sim. All I did was read the Cisco Press book and H2P. This was the hardest test I had to take so far.
Make sure you know the theory and it does help to know how to read the command outputs!

Passed BSCI today with a 833 for my second time recertifying my CCNA/CCDA/CCDP/CCNP.
This is the second time I used HOW2PASS and it didn't disappoint. The forum is a big assist to.
I bought the current 4th edition Cisco CCNP BSCI Exam Certification book to.
Also used all the free testing engines I could find on the internet but only paid for HOW2PASS since I used them the first time I certified.
Had 3 labs and 1 simlet same as "BAMF"
OSPF Stub
ISIS/EIGRP Redistribution
IPV6 Virtual Links
Simlet
EIGRP Topology Output.
Thanks to the posting by "BAMF" to look out for the IPV6 Virtual Link lab.
I found a link which is all you need to understand to configure it.
http://digitaltut.com/bsci-lab-sim/20-bs...l-link-sim
Seemed also to have allot of questions on BGP and multicasting.
Spent two months studying. I suggest take the exam in the afternoon and cram for it in the morning, thats what I did.

Today I just passed the CCNA exam getting 916 which is roughly about 94.5%
I would say that knowing your sims are going to stand you in good stead (don`t forget the Nat sim in the hands on labs) I had the Nat sim , router settings ,frame-relay and switch simlet
There was also 3 ipv6 questions but 2 of them are covered on here and the other you can learn from reading up on ipv6
this site has been a great help in prep but I also completed the instructor run exploration course
stick at it and remember that if you are feeling the pressure on a question take a sit back for 5 seconds
oh and also you can use the ? in the exam simlets not like on here ;D ;D
good luck everyone

Hello All
THis summer I am thinking of doing certifications of CCNA and CNNP. I have the following question.
1)Should I just prepare for CCNP or should I first do CCNA and thne start CCNP.
2)Is it possible to do both CCNa and CCNP in three months(in summer I am free). If yes, how should I go about, assuming I will be studying on my own.
Your help will be appreciated a lot!!
Thanx

qid:ne34 why IGRP? |

i got two of them but select the rip v1 one over IGRP.
this is the passive-interface question. My understanding is that passive interface dont send out routing info but will still recieve routing updates.
ok so i understand why the RIP one wont work - it's becuase of the passive interface deault which means rip routes not being sent out of s0/1 to rtc so rtc wont know how to get to RTA.
but ...
in teh IGRP config we also have passive interface enable with the no passive on s0/1 ??? so igrp goes out of s0/1 but how will rta know about rtc if s0/0 is passive which is the link to RTA? surely s0/0 should be no passive as well????
Thanks

subnet questions n418 and n419 |

Ok these two drag and drop subnet questions both puzzle me for many reasons
1/ the questions ask for you to use subnet zero and to conserve host addresses for future use but both questions miss 4 host addresses when
allocating addresses to the serial interfaces n418 issues 192.168.91.197 to the serial link but the next usable host address is 192.168.91.193 so there is 4 missing hosts here and same thing occurs on question n419 where hosts 80-84 are not used
2/ when allocating hosts you should always issue your highest number of hosts to lowest so why does n419 allocate the 78 hosts their subnet last?
3/ going by the same principle of highest to lowest why does the serial link in n418 appear in the middle of the allocation?
4/ why is subnet zero not used in n418 if it is telling you it is in use?
this questions threw me off as they make no sense whatsoever and come with no explanation of how the answer was arrived at
please explain ???

I thought an access list was applied to a router interface as outbound if it is exiting the LAN segment and inbound if it is arriving into the LAN segment from a different segment. So I'm confused as to why the correct answer is shown as
ip access-group 101 in
Should this not be out, since the frame from host 1 will be exiting the FA0/0 interface, heading outbound to the server? I'm so confused.

I had three Labs and one Simlet:
Labs -
OSPF Stub
ISIS/EIGRP Redistribution
IPV6 Virtual Links ???????????? Got it right and I'm not sure how?
Simlet -
EIGRP Topology Output
This is the first time that I have ever taken a certification test and by the end of it I thought that I had failed. I got crushed with IPV6 and Multicast questions. I had problems with the Labs. Once I got into the labs, I couldn't minimize the the telnet session to get into the other router. I wasted 15 minutes trying to figure out what to do. Luckily, I was able to telnet from router to router to finish my configuration. Make sure that you verify your lab configuration because one of my commands didn't show up on the config (what a disaster). I got a lot of questions that were not on How2Pass and AT. How2Pass and the other materials helped me get through the exam.
Materials I used:
Training Course and Courseware
CBT Nuggets
How2Pass
AT
Exact Exam Study Guide
Boson Labs
And of Course Real World Experience
